The University of Birmingham has introduced three innovative online programmes to meet the growing global demand for high-quality web-based education. The new courses are the Online PGCert Higher Education Policy, the Online MSc Mental Health, and the Online MBA Engineering Leadership. Applications for these programmes are now open.

These programmes are fully online and expand the University’s existing web-based offerings, including the Birmingham Business School’s Online MBA, which recently ranked in the Financial Times’ Top 10 online MBAs worldwide.

The Online PGCert Higher Education Policy into Practice is designed to bridge the gap between professional and academic roles. Graduates can pursue senior positions such as director, department head, academic dean, or vice chancellor, as well as roles in government or with commercial partners. Developed by the Education Equity Initiative led by Professor Chris Millward, the programme leverages interdisciplinary research and practice to offer a comprehensive understanding of higher education policy.

The Online MSc Mental Health integrates disciplines such as psychology, neuroscience, sociology, social policy, medicine, philosophy, and education. As the UK’s only interdisciplinary distance learning MSc in Mental Health, it provides a holistic view of prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and research in mental health. The programme is directed by Dr. Roxana Baiasu, an industry expert with extensive experience in both teaching and online education.

The Online MBA Engineering Leadership is tailored for those aspiring to senior leadership roles within engineering. It combines core MBA modules with specialized engineering courses, including Safety Critical Systems, Engineering Sustainability, and the 4th Industrial Revolution, AI and Data. This programme equips students with essential business and engineering skills, ensuring they are well-prepared for leadership positions in the engineering sector.
