Dove Cameron has recently returned after a short hiatus with her three new songs, ‘Boyfriend’, ‘Breakfast’ and ‘Bad Idea’, all of which highlight her key talent: her witty song writing. Cameron recently went viral after her song ‘Boyfriend’ shot up the Billboard charts in the top 20 and went viral on TikTok.

‘Bad Idea’ is an anthem which explores the pressure of the moment, and how hard making decisions can be

The inspiration for ‘Bad Idea’ came from a text the singer received which led her to impulsively write the song in the studio the next day. “This song was inspired by a text I got that was so intense, and such a bad idea, that I had to go straight into the studio the next morning to write about it. ‘Bad Idea’ is the moment before diving into what could potentially be a severe crash-and-burn but deciding to take the risk anyway”, the singer said in a press release.

‘Bad Idea’ is an anthem which explores the pressure of the moment and how hard making decisions can be. The singer then twists this on its head by saying that best decisions are in fact bad decisions. The lyrics highlight this, ‘Can’t say we didn’t try, baby, we’re a bad idea / F*ck it, let’s do it again’. The song begins with the singer addressing the cut-throat tension between herself and her lover, ‘Could’ve said this day was coming / See your name light up my phone’. Her voice is paired with a scintillating bass which gives an overall mysterious vibe to the song.
