I fell in love with Seville when I visited in April and recently went back for my birthday. One of the best parts of Seville, for me, is the food, especially as a student as the food and drinks are much cheaper than the UK. There are over 3,000 tapas bars in Seville but I’ve narrowed down my top food and drink recommendations.

Breakfast / Brunch

My favourite breakfast spot was ‘Moya Brunch’, located only a 10-minute walk away from Seville’s cathedral.  There are a variety of options on the menu ensuring there is something for everyone. I had a beautifully presented açai bowl with a range of fruits which was perfectly refreshing and light for the 40-degree weather! The rest of my table had eggs benedict with salmon and scrambled eggs waffle.

It was very popular when I visited with both the inside and outside seats full…

The portion sizes were great, they were very generous with the quantity of everything, however both my guests struggled to finish their plates – so perhaps consider sharing with a friend. For drinks, we had freshly squeezed orange juice and some coffees.  It was very popular when I visited with both the inside and outside seats full, so I would recommend arriving earlier in the day.

My second recommendation has to be ‘La Mala Brunch’. I visited both locations, one directly underneath the famous structure ‘Las Setas’ and the other close to both ‘Las Setas’ and the Cathedral. I, again, had an açai bowl with even more fruit than ‘Moya Brunch’. My guest had Avocado, smoked salmon, tomato and cream cheese on toast. For drinks, again, we had freshly squeezed orange juice and coffee. Similar to ‘Moya Brunch’, the portions were big but very reasonably priced considering.

Tapas / Dinner

ABBA Hotel Rooftop restaurant has gorgeous 360 views of Seville, and the best view of the cathedral. This is where I honestly had one of the best meals I’ve ever had. I was shocked by how low the prices were considering how amazing the views were. The menu was smaller than other restaurants we had been to but still offered a good variety, including salad, burgers, sandwiches, meats and cheeses. I had a huge plate of grilled Iberian pork shoulder with seasonal vegetables (I loved it so much I ordered another plate!), and my guests had a huge Caesar salad, patatas bravas, Croquettes and tuna salad with kimchi. The portion sizes here were huge, so keep this in mind when ordering! The rooftop is also great if you just want to enjoy drinks with a view!

Some other stand out restaurants were: ‘Ojala Tapas Y Vinos’ located in the lanes of the ‘old town’ in San Gil and ‘Casa Ozama’ located near to ‘Plaza De España’.

The portion sizes here were huge, so keep this in mind when ordering!

‘Ojala’ was my favourite tapas restaurant we went to and had the best food presentation out of everywhere we visited. If you’re visiting ‘Casa Ozama’ I would recommend sitting in the garden as it was stunning with fairy lights and candles.

Drinks

There are 2 rooftop bars, ‘La Terrazza EME’ and ‘A.R.T Sky Bar’ that have great close-up views of the cathedral. The cocktails at both bars were quite pricey, slightly less than UK prices, but you are paying for the views too. The next recommendation is ‘Restaurante Mi Arma’ which is actually between the two rooftop bars, also with amazing views of the cathedral. The staff here were very friendly and created a fun atmosphere as they were constantly cracking jokes. However, the cocktails were also expensive so to save money stick to wine or beer! If you’re looking to try some traditional ‘orange wine’ I would recommend ‘Bar Casa Morales’ which is a family run tavern decorated with empty bottles along the walls. Lastly, Alameda de Hercules is the most popular plaza in Seville for nightlife, hosting numerous bars and cafes (and apparently clubs too!). It is full of locals and young people so if you’re looking for a fun atmosphere I would recommend heading down there. Overall, Seville is a great hub for food and drinks and is great if you’re travelling on a budget.
