‘Tis the season to be listening to cheesy Christmas classics, but do not neglect the festive sparkle of Christmas pop music. Here is your guide to Christmas pop songs perfect for any festive party.

‘Christmas Tree Farm’ – Taylor Swift

Despite Taylor Swift being one of the most famous and popular artists alive, her 2019 Christmas single ‘Christmas Tree Farm’ never really took off the way it was expected to. For such a cosy and nostalgic sounding song, it is a surprise and a travesty that it is not more well-known and appreciated. ‘Christmas Tree farm (Old Timey Version)’ is even more of a hidden gem that goes forgotten – like some of the lesser-known reindeer. The spoken ‘Merry Christmas’ at the end of this version is enough alone to send you giddy with Christmas joy into the holiday season – it is as if Swift managed to bottle up the feeling of watching old Christmas movies under a blanket by the tree and put it in the song.

‘Together This Christmas’ – Maisie Peters

Another gift under the tree this year is Maisie Peters’ ‘Together This Christmas’ making its way down the chimney and onto streaming platforms after its original 2022 release for the film ‘Your Christmas Or Mine?’. Whilst this is a newer Christmas song, it has an eerily sentimental and familiar sound in the production that instantly transports you to a Christmas light switch-on with loved ones, all bundled up in hats and scarves to see the lights glisten along the streets. If you were looking for a new romantic Christmas song to try this year, this is the one you want.

‘Santa Tell Me’ – Ariana Grande

This is more of a known classic in terms of Christmas pop than the other songs on this list, and it should never be left off the nice list when listening to Christmas music. Listening to Grande plead with Santa to tell her if her current partner will still be around after Christmas never fails to ignite the festive spirit within. Personally, I will never tire of the wistful hope of ‘Santa Tell Me’ and it will always be a go-to song for starting off Christmas correctly.

Fruitcake EP – Sabrina Carpenter

Starting the 2023 Christmas season off strong is Sabrina Carpenter’s Fruitcake EP. The medley of six songs includes ‘A Nonsense Christmas’ – her 2022 hit holiday remix of ‘Nonsense’.  The track brings Carpenter’s signature cheeky twist to Christmas music with a stocking full of funny and naughty and word play.

Also in the EP are four new original songs, and a remix of ‘White Christmas’ and ‘Jingle Bells’. The four new songs – ‘buy me presents’, ‘santa doesn’t know you like I do’, ‘cindy lou who’, and ‘Is it new years yet?’ – each entail four different feelings regarding the festive season, some more melancholic than others, with a suitably seasonal production throughout. The EP is a fun and catchy addition to the season and a worthy addition to your Christmas rotation.

‘Underneath the Tree’ – Kelly Clarkson

Just like Santa, Kelly Clarkson never fails to deliver – except she is bringing heartfelt vocals rather than a sack of presents. ‘Underneath the Tree’ is an upbeat track about finally being with your loved one for Christmas and enjoying the season together. The instrumentals are beautiful for the feel-good track and are perfect for dancing in the kitchen whilst baking Christmas cookies.

Now that you have the perfect playlist for this Christmas, throw on your sparkly outfits, deck the halls, and enjoy the magical season of Christmas.
