Wanderlog is my best friend when travelling and I believe it’s the only travel app you’ll ever need. Wanderlog is a travel planner with pinnable maps allowing you to see your entire trip at a glance as well as find the best routes. One of the best things about Wanderlog is that if you’re travelling with other people, you can share the plan with them and they can make changes.

There are 4 sections on the app: overview, itinerary, explore and budget. The overview allows you to see everything including: lists, reservations, attachments and a quick link to a map. You can add as many lists as you like, with each one having a separate colour that appears on the map and making it easy to see what you’re looking for. The map is great as you can filter it to show specific lists. Another great feature of the lists sections is that there is a subsection for any notes you want to add such as opening times or other important details you want to remember. The itinerary section allows you to plan each day; you can also filter the map to show you the pins for each day. The explore section gives you top recommendations for the area you’re visiting, recommendations for restaurants, attractions and photo spots from other people’s trip plans. It is a great way to find inspiration and discover things to do on your trip. The last section allows you to set a budget for the trip and list any expenses like activities or accommodation costs.

The three lists I always start off with are: Places to visit, Restaurants and Hotel / Airbnb. I start by researching things to do in the place I’m visiting, normally on TikTok, and then adding them into my ‘Places to visit’ list. This then allows me to see what sites are in the same areas which I then plan my days around. This is a great way to travel efficiently instead of going back and forth between places. If I’ve researched any restaurants I want to go to, I also add these to my restaurants list. Normally, I add to my restaurant and bars list throughout my trip as and when I go to places. I love doing this as it is a great way to document and remember where you went.

As the map is based on Google Maps, it works the same way. If you zoom in, you can see the names of places around you and you can search for bars or restaurants in the area. If you’re trying to find directions to one of your pins, it takes you to whatever navigation app you normally use with the route already mapped out for you.

There is a pro version of Wanderlog available which gives you the following extra features: optimising routes, offline access, live flight updates, car rental deals, unlimited attachments, exporting your trip to google maps, linking Gmail account for reservations and AI assistance. I only use the free version as it has everything I need. As a student and someone who only travels a few times a year, I don’t feel the need to subscribe to the pro version. However, if I was travelling more often, perhaps some features such as the offline access would be worth the subscription.

Overall, Wanderlog is a fantastic app to use when travelling as it is easy to navigate and is a great way to plan and stay organised whilst travelling. I’ve used it for the past two years and I can’t imagine ever travelling without it again. I’ve already managed to convert my friends into becoming Wanderlog users so hopefully this convinces you too!
